Planting Instructions for Clay Soil
Dig your planting hole 16-20" wider than the container or root ball, leaving 8-10" of space on all sides. Dig the hole shallower than the root ball - so the root ball sits about 5-6" above grade.
Loosen 2-3" of soil in the bottom of hole. Remove container by laying it on the side.
Apply Bio-Tone fertilizer in the bottom and gently guide the plant into hole, making sure to set the tree or shrub in good upright position. Backfill the space around the root ball with existing soil. Add topsoil to make a mound, add several inches of mulch and stake the tree.
